  • I'm surprised at the comments I've gotten.

And I'm surprised I got comments.

I write something interesting or I put interesting pictures up, no one comments.

Once I write something just a bit against Cal and comments suddenly come (from two people of course).

Pride for your school: good for you.

    But it gets annoying.

What's with the logical argument crap (contradictory, what not).  This is emotion that I'm talking about.  I'm not trying to argue this point.  I was just looking for understanding, and I get "laugh at Japan" and "contradictory."

Makes me wanna go back to Berkeley that much more...

And oh, I almost forgot.  I'm especially peeved by the "laugh at Japan and its tech craze" comment.  I took that to be quite offensive.

  • I have class soon so I'll make this short, and to the point.

Just so that everyone knows, I am not at Berkeley right now.  I left that place almost a year ago.  At first I was kind of bummed because I was leaving my friends at Cal, but to tell you the truth I didn't really care about leaving the school itself.

I'm at Tsukuba now.  I love it.  To be honest, I've made more good friends here than I have at Berkeley.  Laugh at Japan and its tech craze all you want, but you haven't been to Japan.  You weren't here to see what I've experienced here.  You enjoyed your time at Berkeley, that's why you miss it, and that's fine with me.  I enjoyed my time here and I haven't so much at Berkeley, so you should understand why I don't want to go back to Berkeley.

If I had a choice and if I was able to, I wouldn't go back.

  • I got mail from my auntie who saw my mom in the States.

In the packet was an UC Berkeley Summer Session Pamphlet.

I read it, saw the strategically placed photos...

Damn those at Berkeley Public Relations, these pics are starting to make me think being back won't be so bad after all.

    This is from yesterday.

This is Kazunari Tsushima (AKA Tsusshi-).  He made a ton of Yakisoba which was darn good.  He may act aloof and even dumb at times, but he's actually just humbling himself in front of others.  He's actually a pretty sharp observer, and a really nice guy.

This is the first of a series of similar group pics.

    The second

The third.  Maybe you can play that "What's-different-between-the-three-pictures-game."  Your choice.

My buddy Yutaro, and Mari in the background.  He won third in the All-Kanto Region Shaolin Competition.  He's strong... better be careful.

    Group pic #4.

And then things got funny.  It was "Ma-see"s birthday.  So we surprised him by all of us throwing him up in the air and then one of the guys took his shirt off and then another guy poured beer on him.  What a way to celebrate huh.

Poor guy.. it must be cold.

He said he was really cold so all the guys said "might as well jump in the pond then."  So we all pushed him towards the pond.

    Something's happened....

Poor guy... he kept screaming it was cold.  And this is his birthday!?

So Ryota gave him some rum to chug to keep him warm.

Crazy crazy Japan.  I will miss all of this.

  • It's way past Sakura (Cherry Blossom) season.  But that's why it makes these pictures more valuable:

No, I swear it's not because I was so darn lazy that I put these pictures up this late... I swear.

Not too many people know about this, but the Ryugakuseis (exchange students) are taking over Tsukuba.  You see, here's this mafia boss:

He's angry!  And the poor Japanese Tsukuba student pleads for mercy.

The Japanese students must be planning a revolt!  Joe, the Godfather, shows them who's boss by chugging a Cocktail Partner.

    Respect me you fools!

These must be mafia bosses of the Ningen Gakurui (College of Humanities) and Ko-Shisu (Engineering Systems)!  They refuse to pay Joe protection money.

Joe's a big man, but he's human.  He asks Shannon (the mastermind behind all of Tsukuba gang politics) for advice.

Whoever wins this drinking game is the new boss of all Tsukuba gangs... is, I guess, what the deal was.

    The boss struggles.

    But continues fighting

Joe wins.  What a great boss, sacrificing his own well being for all of the gang members.

The EngiNERD boss agrees to pay Joe protection money.

    But wait!  There's more trouble!!

The Judo Kid goes on a rampage!

No one can stop the Judo Kid!  Phillip tries to climb the lightpole in order to escape his wrath.

The lone casualty.  Rest in Peace "Kabeyan."  (*don't worry, he's just sleepin)

    Silly stories aside,

    April 29, 2005

A party for all those that helped out in the New Students' Welcome Committee.

    Kei and I.

From Left to Right:  "Ruike", Kei, Yuri, Shintaro, Aiko, Ayako, Ayana (standing)

Kei, no one can stop you when you are drunk....

I experienced something for the first time last night and I was also put in a kind of an uneasy situation.  I won't put it up online but if you want to know about it, IM me and maybe I'll tell you.  And you tell me what you think because I've had a few differing opinions on the matter.

    Until then, later y'all

  • Last night was the last New Students Welcome Event, Club Night.  Man, it was crazy fun.  But I'm so tired now since I was helping my buddies set up and then it was time to dance like crazy, and I was, along with a few other friends, trying to get the first years to get out onto the floor and dance.

I bet all you Berkeley people have never seen me go this crazy.

After Club Night, there was an after party at this really nice Japanese restaurant and we all ate tons of good food and drank a lot... and of course, talked a lot too.  Then there was another after party at, whuddya know, "Party Party", a karoke joint.  After that, most of us were worn out (it was 3am) and most of us decided to go back to our places, but a few people were crazy enough to go to another after party at Ken-chan's place (more drinking).

    So, here are pics.

Yuka and Nanae putting up the "Club Night" sign.

The Drink Menu.  Drawn, hand-made, by Yuka.

Miki (Mikitaka), one of our great MC's of the night.  He's the man!

Miki and Eri.  Eri was one of our wonderful DJ's and also helped get the crowd get pumped and dancing.  She's such a great dancer!  She was nice enough to teach Miki, KC(the other MC for the night), and me a few moves.

Yuka and Nanae after completing the "Club Night" sign.

From left to right:  Mari (known as Phoebe by everyone), Eri, and Miki.

    Kumage, the bartender!

Ayana (the "welcome girl") and me.

Eri and Phoebe at the DJ booth.

The ballroom dancing club came to perform for us.  They were terrific!

For some reason Phoebe is by herself to the left staring out into space...

    Tango!!

The Shamisen Club (Mugen-juku).  You had to be there to see, and listen how awesome they were.

    They just plain kicked ass.

A big birthday cake for all the April birthday people (all girls coincidentally).  Yuri made this cake.  She's a certified patisse?  (I don't know how to spell French).  Oh well, it just means she's certified to become a professional designed -cake and sweets maker.  And by the way, Yuri will be coming to Berkeley to study abroad for a year, so maybe she might make something wonderful for us!?

3 of the 4 birthday girls.

Now for the Japanese restaurant after party:

To-oru and me.  This dude is my little bro, my Œã”y.  I am his æ”y.

This is Seiichi.  He's another one of my little bros.  And Phoebe's hand got in the way...

Kenjiro (aka Tori-ken).  We all call him Tori-ken.  He's gonna be an important dude in the Japanese gov. someday.  It'll be wise to be on his good side.  Good thing I am so far!

Let's end this with the three mafia-bosses: Naoko, Taka-san, and Isshii-.  You all deserve a nice smoke break.  You guys worked so hard!

And so the month of April is almost at an end.  I truly hope the Kokusai (College of International Studies) first years enjoyed themselves with all these events their seniors set up for them.  It was a great experience helping my buddies out setting all of these events up, as well as enjoying the events just like a freshman.  I guess I was able to experience both sides of the whole thing, which has been a real blast.

  • Okay, so I guess I'll write in English this time.  But I don't have anything to write right now.

Actually, I didn't know all of you read my Xanga that often.  Well, I do know a few of you do (like Kevin here), but I don't know about the rest of you 'cuz you never leave comments.  So I thought I might as well write in Japanese for my own personal satisfaction.

I mean come on now, I see all of my other friends' entries and they get at least 4 or 5 comments.  I think one of my friends put up a sad face and she got like 6 comments.

Ok, ok, so I'm being childish for wanting that much attention.  Anyways, maybe I should write something more interesting.
